“Blogs are Back!”

That’s what Robert Scoble said when Khris and I showed him Echo prior to the Launch at the Real-Time Crunchup.

It seems like his thoughts are gaining momentum.

As I wrote on my personal blog:

I couldn’t agree more. It looks like his sentiment is starting to propegate.

When I say Blogs are Back I mean that the balance between other forms of social media (Twitter, Facebook, FriendFeed etc) are now finding their rightful balance with the first and foremost social platform, Blogging.

This is not to suggest that other forms of interaction are going away, only that there is a natural equilibriam to be struck.

For JS-Kit’s part, and Echo specifically, the key is to ensure that a blog is a full and fruitful part of the full social media landscape. The goal is to make the blog post the first place to share a thought and the best place to see a complete and comprehensive view of the resulting conversation.

The conversation itself can and should happen on FriendFeed, Twitter, other Blogs, Facebook – you name it. These are natural, private conversations between friends. The blog author though, can enjoy the fruits of his work by watching the live reactions get re-assembled on his page.

Blogs are back – that’s for sure – and we’re excited to see where this notion leads.
