Today I am very excited to announce yet another step along our data portability journey. JS-Kit has integrated with Yahoo!OS.

By integrating with Yahoo!’s Universal Profile and Updates platform, JS-Kit is opening the way to connect its publisher customers to Yahoo!’s massive global audience. Here are the highlights:

  • JS-Kit Comments now integrates with two Y!OS APIs — Updates and Social Directory (User Login and Profile)
  • The integration with the Yahoo! Updates API enables JS-Kit-powered sites to share user-generated content, such as blog comments, and other related publisher content directly to a user’s social connections on Yahoo! via the “Updates from My Connections” feature.  With this new capability, JS-Kit offers its publisher partners a potentially massive new distribution channel for content and a great engine for driving referral traffic from Yahoo!’s global audience (the Updates include links back to the original publisher site).
  • The integration with the Yahoo! Social Directory API enables JS-Kit-powered sites to allow users to leverage their Yahoo! identity and display their Yahoo! profile photo with their comments (leveraging OAuth technology).  By enabling commenters to use their Yahoo! profile commenting, publishers can build a stronger sense of community at their sites.
  • All of JS-Kit’s publishers are enabled to support this integration, including; Guy Kawasaki, Sun Microsystems and WorldNow.
  • This major Y!OS integration follows closely on the heels of JS-Kit’s release of OpenID 2.0 and FaceBook Connect, used by more than 200M visitors.
  • Immediate availability for JS-Kit supported CMS platforms, distributors, & publishers under Free, Pro, & Pro+ subscriptions models.
  • “The Yahoo! Open Strategy enables publishers and their partners like JS-Kit to reach Yahoo!’s global audience.  JS-Kit’s turnkey solutions are an easy and elegant way for publishers to integrate social offerings that drive engagement for their users as well as viral reach and traffic back to their sites,” said Greg Cohn, Director of Strategy & Business Development for Y!OS.  “We’re thrilled JS-Kit is making it so easy for publishers to access one of the world’s largest distribution platforms in Yahoo!.”

Publishers
JS-Kit is the world’s largest distributed social network, connecting over 600,000 publishers with light weight, cross domain services, including Comments, Ratings, and Polls. These community building services are easy to install, simple to customize, and support fine grained administrative controls.  Publishers can save in-house development and join a network of sites which include AOL, Evite, Experian, JetBlue, Sun Microsystems, & WorldNow by simply embedding a few lines of HTML.
